    Point Performance Co-founder

Dr. Mark D. Klaiman is the co-founder of Point Performance. Named by his peers as one of Washingtonian magazine’s “Top Docs” for the past several years, Dr. Klaiman has nurtured a successful private practice since 1996 and is recognized throughout the region for his skills in diagnosis, medical acupuncture and treating acute and chronic spinal pain, sports injuries, soft tissue disorders and arthritis. Dr. Klaiman’s expertise lies in coordinating multiple disciplines and modalities to support optimal pain reduction.

He received his Doctorate in Medicine from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University and completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Columbia University. He is board certified and has been a fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation since 1994. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Klaiman was a visiting associate in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Klaiman has lectured extensively over the years and has numerous writings and publications focused on the evaluation and management of musculoskeletal soft tissue injuries. He received his medical acupuncture training through the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture in 1995 and is recognized as a leading provider of medical acupuncture in the Washington, DC region.

He lives with his wife and two children in Washington, DC, has a long standing commitment to fitness and is an avid participant in skiing, golf and cycling.

Several aspects of Mark’s care were impressive.  First, he had all the time in the world for me. Second, he encouraged me to visit a surgeon. Mark believed that his practice of physical medicine and rehabilitation would be a better option than surgery, but he wanted me to understand all of the options available. With no ego or agenda, he was interested in my best care.  I elected not to have surgery and remained under Dr. Klaiman’s care. Today, at age 50, I play golf, swim, bike, and exercise regularly.      -Andy Friedlander
