If you’re looking for a total body exercise and you don’t have or don’t want to use a lot of gym equipment, try the shelf-reach move. This move pivots your body so you’re reaching from the floor, turning, and then reaching up as if you’re putting something on a shelf. You can increase the challenge by adding a kettlebell.
Point Performance’s medical physical trainer, Phil Silberman, demonstrates how to perform this exercise, without and with a kettlebell. He suggests warming up your body before doing the move, to avoid pulling a muscle.
