Medical Massage and Medical Personal Training
Point Performance offers medical massage therapy and medical personal training to complement your path to recovery and function enhancement. Our therapists and trainers work closely with our medical and physical therapy staff to build a program that’s tailored to your needs and goals, designed to maximize your health and movement goals.
What is Medical Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy is a process of stroking, pressing, and kneading different areas of the body to relieve pain, relax, stimulate and tone the body. Although massage largely affects those muscles just under the skin, its benefits may also reach the deeper layers of muscles and the organs themselves. The benefits are wide-ranging: from lowering blood pressure and improving muscle tone to improving posture and promoting quality sleep. Our therapists specialize in various types of massage, including Swedish, deep tissue, sports massage, and myofascial release massage.
Point Performance provides medical massages, which is delivered under the direction of a team of healthcare providers. Our therapists all hold higher degrees and have training in orthopedic treatment, knowledge of pathologies and contraindications, and practice in techniques of eastern and western massage.
What is Medical Performance Training?
Medical performance training, part of the care continuum, is a service offered at Point Performance that transitions a patient from medical or physical therapy care to improved health, manageable chronic disease, advanced fitness levels, or return to competitive sports. Medical performance training includes guidance with:
- Weight loss
- Sleep habits
- Stress reduction
- Bone strength
- Balance training & power
- Strength training
- Mobility & flexibility training
- Stamina & endurance
Medical performance training involves a collaborative effort between the patient-client and the referring physical therapist or doctor to identify specific medical issues and to define health and functional movement goals. Your therapist or doctor will update and modify your exercise program throughout your sessions.
